A quick dungeon run tonight
A delve is a quick dungeon run with friends. Pick one of 34 dungeons, the difficulty and the rules (Worldtable's own, or a rule system such as Classic d20, in beta), make a character with no backstory, and send a link. Friends can play without an account: their turns come out of your credits, one credit a turn, up to a cap for the whole delve, and anyone who signs in pays for their own. On Easy and Normal a fall is a defeat, not a death, and the run ends in a tale anyone can open.
A party in a shared world
Every world is shared, so you can walk into a tavern and find another player's character already there, and the storyteller never speaks or acts for another player's character. In worlds that allow parties (four players to start, up to six), the leader's march carries everyone and the whole party keeps the same clock.
Fights in rounds
A party fight runs in rounds on one battle map: everyone declares, every hero acts, then the enemies' announced blows land, and one narration tells the round. It resolves the moment everyone online has declared, or after a 90-second window. A bigger party meets more ordinary foes, up to eight, while elites and bosses get tougher instead. Spoils are claimed with Want or Pass, and coin is split.
Run your own world for your group
Build your group's world in the World Studio, invite them with a link that works until you revoke it, and set the rules in plain words, or pick a rule system. Run it on your own AI key and nobody in the party pays.
Talking among yourselves
- Every party gets an out-of-character room for planning and teasing, which only its members see.
- Every world has a room of its own, and there's a Tavern all worlds share.
- Each player can switch to Table talk to chat with the Game Master privately, for free.
Who pays
Each player pays for their own turns from their own credits: a party has no shared wallet. A fight round costs one credit from each player who acts in it, and guarding is free. Every account starts with 50 free credits, and packs start at $5 for 200.
Playing alone tonight? A solo RPG with an AI game master.
Questions
- Can I play an AI RPG with friends?
- Yes. Form a party in a shared world (up to four players by default, six where the builder allows), fight in rounds on one battle map, or open a delve, a quick dungeon run for up to four, and send your friends a link.
- Do my friends need an account?
- For a delve, no: friends you invite can play as guests, and their turns come out of your credits, up to a cap for the delve. To join a world or a party they need a Worldtable account.
- How many players can play together?
- A party holds up to four players by default, and a world's builder can allow up to six. A delve takes up to four. One fight holds six heroes.
- Who pays for the AI?
- Each player pays for their own turns, one credit a turn, and every account starts with 50 free. In a delve the host covers guests' turns up to a cap. In a world on its builder's own AI key, nobody pays.
- Can we use D&D-style rules?
- Yes, in beta: a delve's host can pick the rules, including Classic d20 (the fifth-edition core from the SRD 5.1), and a builder can set a whole world to a rule system.
- Does the AI play our characters?
- No. The storyteller never speaks or acts for another player's character, and only one turn resolves in a place at a time.
