How a session goes

  1. Pick a world. Worldtable's own worlds are open to everyone: open one, press Play now, make a character and start. Or answer six questions and walk into a world drafted for you.
  2. Make a character. Create with AI deals four possible lives to choose from, steered by a direction if you give one, and every field can be edited or rerolled. A new character starts as a capable adventurer at best, never a legend.
  3. Choose how it opens. Take a first scene written for your character (read it before you step in, or roll another), or find your own way from the town square.
  4. Say what you try. Write what your character attempts, not what happens: "I lunge for the captain's sword arm" is a move the world can answer; "I disarm the captain" is an outcome, and outcomes aren't yours to declare.
  5. The world answers. The AI grades the attempt, the engine rolls and applies the result, and the AI writes what happened in the world's voice. Every fight plays out on a battle map.

A story of your own

Every character gets a story of their own: a real answer waiting to be found, clues in real towns, and someone working against you. There is no railroad, but there is friction, and threads you never take up are let go.

It remembers

Close the tab for a month and come back: the innkeeper still remembers the tab you never paid. Every named character keeps a file on you, and your character's page has a book, the story so far, one chapter per stretch of notable deeds, written only from what actually happened and read back before every scene.

Short bursts or long nights

  • Turns run on the server: close the tab mid-turn and the answer is there when you come back, and you can be told when it arrives.
  • It installs on your phone or desktop like an app.
  • Undo last turn rewinds the world by your most recent turn, including what it cost you, what it paid you, and even a death it caused.
  • Talk to the game master out of character in brackets, like (OOC: slow down, I want to explore this town). It adjusts pacing and tone, but it won't hand out gold, items or a win because you asked.
  • Or switch to Table talk and chat with your world's Game Master as yourself; it's free and private.

Rules, if you want them

Worldtable's own engine keeps the numbers hidden. A world's builder can switch it to a rule system instead, with stats on a sheet and dice you can see, such as Classic d20, the fifth-edition core from the SRD 5.1. For a quick game, a delve is a short dungeon run for up to four players: pick one of 34 dungeons and the rules, and make a quick character with no backstory. Rule systems are in beta.

What it isn't

  • It isn't a person. The storyteller is a language model. The engine keeps it honest about facts and dice; what it writes is only as good as the model behind it.
  • It isn't every genre. Worldtable is built for fantasy worlds: maps, kingdoms, magic, roads and ports.

Want company later? Every world is shared, and friends can form a party: playing with friends.

Questions

Can I play D&D solo with an AI?
You can play a fantasy roleplaying game solo here, at any hour. Worlds run on Worldtable's own engine unless their builder picks a rule system such as Classic d20, the fifth-edition core from the SRD 5.1, and a delve lets you pick the rules for a quick dungeon run. Rule systems are in beta.
Is it free?
Every account starts with 50 free credits, and a turn costs one. After that, packs start at $5 for 200, or $12 a month for 650. A world that runs on its builder's own AI key is free to play.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Worldtable runs in the browser and installs on your phone like an app: on Android use the Install prompt, and on iPhone tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
Does the AI remember earlier sessions?
Yes, in two ways that don't depend on the AI's memory: every named character keeps a file on you, and the story so far is written down chapter by chapter and read back before every scene.
What if a turn goes wrong?
Undo last turn rewinds your most recent turn, and a note in brackets, like (OOC: slow down), steers pacing and tone. Turns that fail are refunded.
Can I play with friends later?
Yes. Every world is shared, so other players' characters can be in the same tavern, and you can form a party in worlds that allow it.

Build a world and find out.

Six questions get you a drafted world in a minute or two. Building is free, no API key needed, and you start with 50 free credits.
