Terms of Service

The rules of the table

These terms apply to Worldtable (“we”, formerly ChronicleRPG): the game, the World Studio, and everything at worldtable.gg, worldtable.ai and chroniclerpg.xyz. By using it you agree to them.

Who can use Worldtable

  • You must be 18 or older. Scenes are written by an AI and can include violence, death and dark themes.
  • An account is for one person. Keep your sign-in to yourself; you are responsible for what happens on your account.
  • Don't make extra accounts to get more free credits, or to get around a suspension.

Early access

Worldtable is in early access. Features will change, some will break, and some may be removed. Characters can die for good under a world's rules; that is part of the game, not a fault. We work hard to keep what you make, but we can't promise the service will always be available or that nothing will ever be lost.

What you write, and what the AI writes

What you write is yours: your characters, what you type, and the worlds you build. You give us permission to store it, show it where the game shows it (to other players in the same place, on the adventurers layer, on a world's public page if its builder publishes one), and send it to AI providers to run the game. That permission ends when you delete it, except where it is part of other people's shared scenes or someone else's world.

The AI's writing is fiction. It can be wrong, inconsistent, or unpleasant, and it is never advice. You may use what the storyteller wrote for your own play however you like, within the law. Where the engine and the story disagree, the engine's record (health, items, money, the map) is what counts.

Building worlds

  • You are responsible for the worlds you build and publish, and for who you invite into them.
  • New worlds run on Worldtable credits: each player spends their own credits on their turns, and you spend yours on building (Hob, drafting, Studio pictures). Worlds on credits use Worldtable's default models.
  • You can connect your own AI key or provider instead, to choose your world's models. Then its charges are between you and your provider, and nobody spends credits in it. Set limits with your provider. We are not responsible for what your world's players spend on your key, though you can cap their turns and pictures in the Studio.

Credits and payments

  • Worlds that run on Worldtable's own AI are paid for with credits. A turn costs 1 credit, voice on a turn 1 more, a picture 2, ten messages to Hob 1, and drafting a new world 2. The current prices are always on the Credits page. If a price changes, the Credits page shows the new price before it applies. A change never takes credits you already hold.
  • A world that runs on its builder's own AI key or provider, or on a player's own agent (such as Claude Code or Codex), doesn't use credits.
  • New accounts get some free credits once. They are a courtesy, and we can change the amount or stop offering them.
  • Credit packs are one-off purchases. Their credits don't expire while your account is open.
  • The Adventurer subscription renews every month until you cancel. Each renewal adds that month's credits, and what's left from the month before carries over, up to one month's worth; anything beyond that lapses. Subscription credits are spent before free or bought ones. You can cancel at any time under Manage subscription on the Credits page, and you keep that month's credits until it ends.
  • Refunds. A turn the world never answers, and a picture that fails to paint, are given back automatically. If you change your mind about a purchase, ask within 14 days and we'll refund it, less any credits you've already spent from it. Spent credits can't otherwise be refunded.
  • If a payment is refunded or disputed, the credits it bought are removed from what you have left, and purchases on the account may be paused while we look into it.
  • Credits aren't money. They have no cash value, can't be transferred, sold or exchanged, and only work on Worldtable.
  • If Worldtable shuts down, we'll give at least 30 days' notice and refund credits you bought and haven't used.
  • Payments are handled by Stripe. Prices are in US dollars. Sales tax or VAT is added at checkout where it applies.

What isn't allowed

  • Anything sexual involving minors, in any form, including fictional characters. Accounts that try are removed.
  • Anything illegal, or using Worldtable to plan or help with something illegal.
  • Harassing, threatening or impersonating other players, or writing content aimed at real, identifiable people.
  • Breaking or overloading the service, getting around its limits, scraping it, or reselling access to it.
  • Using the storyteller to produce material for use outside the game that breaks the rules above.

Ending things

You can stop using Worldtable at any time, and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy). We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. For anything short of a serious or repeated breach, we'll tell you why first.

No guarantees

Worldtable is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data, or charges from your own AI provider, and our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the last twelve months. Nothing here limits rights the law says can't be limited.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters, we update the date at the top and ask you to accept them again the next time you visit. Questions: @a.eid1 on Discord.
