Dwarf Name Generator

Dwarven names for warriors, smiths and the clans of the deep halls. The style is built from an invented dwarven tongue with hard consonants and short, heavy syllables: kh, z, g, d. Most names come with a clan name. Switch the kind to Towns for the names of halls and holds.

What makes a name sound dwarven

Dwarven names in fantasy are built to be shouted across a forge. They're short, close on consonants and use the back of the throat: kh, gh, z, r, d. Vowels are mostly a and u. Names like Gathar Nuzundus or Kharar Garam follow those rules.

Many fantasy dwarves also carry a second, earned name in the common tongue: Khiz Ironhand, Narad the Deep. Take a dwarven given name from here and pair it with a deed.

Clans and holds

Use the family name as the clan, and name the clan's hold in the same style with the Towns kind. A dwarf introduces themselves by both: Biraz of clan Bila, of Gathurabu. Clans with long memories and old grudges against each other give a dwarven character something to care about.

Names are the start

Make the whole world: a map, its peoples, its magic and a villain with a plan. The free world generator names its towns and regions with this same engine, in the style you choose.

In the World Studio you build a world on a real map, set its rules in plain words and invite players. An AI game master voices every character while the game engine keeps the map, the fights and the money honest.
