Elf Name Generator
Elven names for characters, houses and the old families of the forest. The style is learned from invented elven words, so the names flow: soft consonants, long vowels, th and l and r. Most come with a family name; switch the kind to Towns or Kingdoms for elven cities and realms.
Elven: flowing and old.
What makes a name sound elven
Elven names in most fantasy lean on liquid sounds (l, r, n, th) and open vowels, and avoid hard stops like k and g at the end of a word. They also tend to be long, because elves live long and are in no hurry. Names here like Lyelion Filhana or Neireth Onana follow those habits without belonging to any one author's elvish.
If a name is too long to use at the table, keep the first two syllables as a familiar name. An elf called Thelumalya by her family can be Thel to the party.
Elven houses
Treat the family name as a house name. Elven houses in fiction are old, few and proud, so reuse the same handful of family names across a whole elven city. Two elves with the same house name who aren't on speaking terms is a story already.
Names are the start
Make the whole world: a map, its peoples, its magic and a villain with a plan. The free world generator names its towns and regions with this same engine, in the style you choose.
In the World Studio you build a world on a real map, set its rules in plain words and invite players. An AI game master voices every character while the game engine keeps the map, the fights and the money honest.

Questions
- Can I use these elf names for D&D?
- Yes. They suit any elf: high elves, wood elves or your own. For drow and other dark elves, the drow name generator uses a sharper style.
- Are these Tolkien's elvish names?
- No. The style is learned from a list of invented elven names, not from Quenya or Sindarin, so the results sound elven without copying any particular language.
- Can I get elven town names?
- Yes. Switch the kind to Towns to name elven cities, or to Kingdoms for elven realms. The style stays Elven.
