Getting in

Accounts, invites, choosing a world and making a character.

Your account

Sign in with Continue with Google, or with an email and password (pick a username when you create the account). One account works in every world on Worldtable.

Getting into a world

Playing a world is by invitation. There are three ways in, and a fourth: make a world of your own, which anyone can do (see Making a world).

  • Khorvale admits accounts that have been let in. A new account sees Awaiting approval until then; the page says who to ask.
  • An invite link from a world's builder (/invite/…) makes you a member of that world straight away: Join world.
  • A world's public page (/w/…) may let you Ask to join, with a note for the builder. You get in when they accept; you can take the request back meanwhile.

The Worlds page lists the worlds you belong to, with a map of whichever one you select, and Enter to go there.

Making a character

Characters belong to one world. Two ways to begin:

  • Create with AI deals four possible lives to choose from, optionally steered by a direction you give. Every field can then be edited or rerolled.
  • Start from scratch walks you through it yourself.
  1. Lineage. Your people, with how far each can grow in strength and magic. Some peoples are rare, and some have no magic at all.
  2. Backstory. Who you were before. It's checked: nonsense, abuse, or something that flatly contradicts the world's canon is sent back. A thin one is allowed; it just earns you less.
  3. Appearance and name.
  4. Power and magic. Your backstory is weighed and you're granted a budget of points. You decide how it splits between strength and magic, within your people's limits. Engine
  5. Belongings, or start empty-handed.
  6. Magic. Up to two of the world's kinds of magic, if you have any.
  7. Where you start. A region; you arrive in its capital's square. Then Forge your character.

As an app

Worldtable installs to your phone or desktop like an app. On Android and desktop Chrome, use the Installprompt; on iPhone, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.

Notifications

You can be told when the world answers a turn you left running, when word of your deeds spreads, and when someone walks into your room. On iPhone, notifications only work from the installed app.

Then

You're standing in a town square with a road leading out of it. Type what you do. Playing a turn explains what happens next, and the in-game Codex has a short guided tour the first time you open it.
