A round of fixes
Write while others play, the storyteller asks before it paints, a People tab with favourites, battle sounds, and a Game Master that can fix your sheet.
Lots of small things this time, most of them things you told us about.
Playing
- Write while someone else's turn plays out. In a shared room, the box no longer locks while another player acts. Type your move, and it sends as soon as their turn lands.
- A tap never wipes what you typed. Tapping a skill, an item, a reply or a dungeon road used to replace your draft. Now it's added where your cursor is. Tapping the battle map puts it where your cursor was, not at the end.
- Your own roll comes to you. A check waiting on your dice used to be a card in the log that was easy to scroll past. Now it opens in the middle of the screen with a bigger tray. "Read the scene first" (or Esc) puts it back in the log until you're ready.
- Learn a skill straight from Training. The Training tab no longer sends you off to role-play a lesson and hope the skill shows up. Pick a skill and press Learn, and it's yours. The usual limits still apply: you need a milestone to claim and a quiet moment.
Pictures
- The storyteller asks before it paints. Some of you found scene pictures spending credits you didn't mean to spend. When the storyteller wants to paint a moment, you now get a card under the prose: Paint it (1 credit) or No thanks. Pictures you ask for yourself, like your portrait, still paint straight away. Worlds on their own key aren't charged, so nothing changes there.
- The picture model menu is gone from the story page. Story pictures always use the world's own model now, so an old pick can't quietly keep applying. The portrait and Gallery pickers stay.
People
- Everyone you've met, in one place. The character page has a People tab: every NPC you've met, with their portrait when there is one, how they feel about you and where they are now. Search by name, filter by place, or show only friends, enemies or the dead.
- Favourite NPCs. Star anyone from the scene list, the story, their card or their full page, and they're pinned to the top. Your party members keep their own favourites.
Parties
- See who's talking. In a shared log, another player's posts carry their portrait in a frame, like an NPC's. If they're in your party, clicking it opens their party card.
- Titles and rumours tell the whole story. When a party does something worth talking about, the titles and rumours that follow are written from the whole scene. They name who was with you, and they no longer give one hero credit for something the whole party did.
Fights
- Fights make sound. The dice rattle and land, and a critical rings. Battle maps have footsteps, swings, spells, shots and hits, matched to the weapon and the world: bows, guns or blasters. There's an Effects switch in the play header if you'd rather not hear them.
- No more overpowered monsters in worlds with rules. In worlds with a rule system, NPCs are held to what their people or creature can actually reach. A cave spider is sized like a cave spider now, not like a dragon.
- The right blow lands the kill. A hit that did no damage could be shown finishing a foe ahead of the blow that actually did. Fixed.
Table talk
- Story changes wait for your yes. When the Game Master wants to change your story, like planting a thread, dropping one or adding a note for the next scene, it now shows you the change with Approve and Decline. If you decline, nothing is written.
- The Game Master can fix your character sheet on the official worlds. If a turn lost your health or an item, or you want a different class while you're still at your starting level, ask in table talk. Every fix is checked against what actually happened in your story first. The Game Master can't hand out gold, levels or gear the story never gave you, however nicely you ask.
Modern worlds
- A place to live. Coral Harbor, Hamyeol, Vickston City and Cythos now have homes to rent, from a motel room or a coffin bunk up to a tower flat, priced from each city's own costs. Miss the rent and the landlord locks you out.
