Jobs Pay, Quests Stick, Trails Arrive
Finished jobs now give experience, jobs you take become quests, and trails you follow lead somewhere.
You can now grow without picking fights. Jobs pay, the jobs you take show up as quests, and a trail you keep following actually leads somewhere.
What changed
- Finished jobs give experience. Escorting a caravan, rescuing a lost guide, carrying a message to a council or leading hunters off a fugitive's trail now counts toward your next level when the job is done. Longer jobs are worth more, up to about what a hard fight pays. Walking away from a job gives nothing.
- Say yes and it's a quest. When you take a job in your own words ("Deal, I'll find your mule"), it goes straight into your quest journal. You no longer have to accept it a second time on a card.
- Offers stick around. If someone offers you work and you haven't answered yet, the offer card is still there after you reload, and you can say yes a turn later. "Not now" really does turn it down.
- Dropping a job works. Write something like "(I'm abandoning the job for Narbiz)" and the quest is dropped. Before, that request was ignored.
- Trails arrive. Follow tracks, search for someone or press on a few times in a row, and the next turn takes you to the end of it: the camp, the person, the missing animal, or whoever is waiting there. No more "the trail goes on" ten times over.
Thanks to the Eredane player whose long night of jobs showed us all of this.
