Build Your Own World

Anyone can now build a world of their own in the World Studio, run it on Chronicle's engine, and invite people in.

Chronicle isn't only Khorvale any more. Anyone with an account can now build a world of their own in the World Studio, run it on the same engine, and invite people to play it.

Start with a few answers

  • On the Worlds page, give your world a name and an address. One account can own up to five worlds.
  • The wizard asks six things: what it's about, how it should feel, the land, peoples and magic, how places sound, and anything else you want to say.
  • Chronicle drafts the whole world in a minute or two: the premise and founding event, regions and their histories, peoples, magic, realms beyond the map, money, a cast of notable figures and a first shelf of lore. Nothing is saved until you choose Use this world.
  • Or skip the wizard and build it by hand, starting from a copy of Khorvale's pieces.

Shape it in the Studio

  • Map. Islands or one land, a shape, a size and a climate, or paint it roughly yourself. The same generator that drew Khorvale adds the coastlines, rivers, roads and towns. Drag a region's name and watch its borders follow; click any name to rename it or roll a new one.
  • Peoples. How strong each people can get and how much magic they can hold, set with bars instead of numbers. Characters can't be made or grow past those limits.
  • Magic, Cast, Lore, Economy and Rules. What magic exists, the figures who matter, what's always true, the coin, and how the game plays in your world.
  • Ask. Question your own world, and check a new idea against its canon before you write it in.
  • Long fields have Write one for me, Flesh it out and Make it clearer. Everything saves itself and reaches play at once, and your last twenty saves can be restored.

Bring people in

  • Playtest takes you straight into your world. Characters are kept separate for each world.
  • The Players tab makes invite links, and invited players can play a draft, so testers can come in early.
  • Publish it and give it a public page at chroniclerpg.xyz/w/your-world, with its map, lands and peoples, where strangers can Ask to join.

Who pays for the AI

  • Your first $1 of AI is on Chronicle, shared across your worlds.
  • After that your world runs on your own key: an OpenRouter key, or any provider that speaks OpenAI's chat API. The AI tab shows each model's price per 100 turns.
  • Players never pay. Everyone in your world plays on your credit.
